Factors Leading to Obesity and its Dangerous Risk
Obesity, overweight, and underweight are the most common problem of individuals now a day. It is a condition where a person has a problem with his or her weight management. This condition is common among teenagers. This is because during this age the body has a variety of biological changes. Nowadays, teens are really conscious with their body structure. This is the reason why most teenagers love to look at the mirror many times. Today if you have a big body structure which commonly known as obese or overweight it means that you don’t have the style and looks that most people are wishing for. The perception among individuals regarding a beautiful body structure is through having a slim body. This is why there are now increasing number of underweight individuals due to skipping of meals just to have the desired body size. This is common among girls than boys. There are plenty of ways to assess yourself if you are overweight or underweight by simply looking yourself in front of the mirror. In this procedure, you must be honest enough to decide and accept if you are really overweight or underweight. To understand more about the weight problems lets orient ourselves to several factors, which lead to obesity and the dangerous risk if you are overweight. First let’s talk about the factors leading to obesity.
There are plenty of factors and these are the following:
1. Eating foods with high calories more than the level needed for the body. Calories are utilized by our body to create the energy needed. It is also stored under our skin in a form of fats. Other calories are used by other organs such as the heart for energy on its contraction and in the intestine for intestinal movement.
2. Eating foods with high in sugar level. This form is also used as a source of energy. If the extra sugar in the body is not utilized it will convert into fats.
3. Less physical activity. This will result to less utilization of the calories by the body, and it will form fats that will be distributed in several parts of the body.
4. Large intake of alcohol. This is really common today. Beverages with alcohol content have a high caloric level but have less nutritional value. Since there is high content of calories therefore there will be increasing number of extra calories in the body which will later form fats.
5. Hereditary predisposition. If you have obese parents, which display overeating and less exercise then you will have a higher chance of getting obese or overweight.
6. Slow basal metabolic rate or (BMR) this refers to the rate at which the energy is spent in order to maintain life.
7. Age. As an individual gets older they will need less energy. This is because an old person is less active.
Now let’s talk about some dangerous risk of being overweight.
1. If we are overweight our arteries in the body will gradually narrow to the extent that it will totally block the blood from passing through the vessel. This will result to increase in the blood pressure which can predispose you in having health complications like kidney problems, aneurism, and even multi-organ failure.
2. The overweight individual is at risk to develop diabetes mellitus, which is a condition when the blood sugar level is abnormally high. If the person has diabetes mellitus, he or she is at risk for having complications like kidney trouble, delayed wound healing.
3. As you can see an overweight person has excess fats all around his or her chest and below the diaphragm. This condition will result to a difficulty in breathing.
4. The overweight person is at risk for developing stones in the gallbladder. The exact etiology for this condition is still unknown. However, studies show that it is because of the excess cholesterol.
5. Because of the overweight the joint production will encounter problems.
